Green Mountain Trail Vortex

Green Mountain, located in southeast Huntsville, Alabama, is home to a serene and ecologically diverse landscape that acts as a natural grounding vortex. The energy here is described as being exceptionally quiet and protective, offering a sanctuary of tranquility that feels far removed from the surrounding urban environment.

Beyond the groomed paths, the vortex extends into the rugged Alum Hollow and the sacred site of Alum Cave. This rock shelter was historically used by Middle Woodland period Indigenous peoples as a camp and is viewed today as a powerful portal of ancestral connection. The sound of seasonal waterfalls, such as Alum Falls and Grotto Falls, can help those seeking peace within the natural order.

October 1, 2022Am I over thinking this? Are there any reposts of cited locations in north Alabama mountains. But the trees twist and there is all of the good feelings on this trail. I was wondering what steps I might take to confirm – compass, pendulum or if there are local hunters that may have interest in this area. Thank you just a thought – Elizabeth, Blevins Gap Huntsville AL

January 23, 2023 – not stating that this area is a vortex, but suggesting that further investigation is warranted. We agree and have added Green Mountain Trail to the Vortex Map so other visitors to the location can let us know what they think–vortex or just a beautiful, serene, natural trail? – Loveday

Registered on August 30, 2024I saw the note about a possible vortex on the Green Mountain property. I have seen that tree, I believe, but can’t confirm as it doesn’t reach the ground. All I can say is there is a huge Trail Tree in this general area and it is historically significant in addition to it being a perfect specimen of a Trail Tree. There is a significance to these trees, as you might already know, as they follow old roads/Indian trails and are believed to be above water sources / aquifers. I do understand we have a positive vortex in our front yard. It was confirmed by a gentleman and his wife who dowsed it and confirmed it was one. It is located at an old cedar tree which has a large burl on it’s east side. The tree has never been struck by lightening and we believe is on a positive energy line that extends towards the northeast. – Rusty

April 11, 2025Hello again, I re-read my earlier note about the tree pictured on your site (Green Mountain Nature Trail). That trail is interesting, but I have always have had an uneasy feeling about the place whenever I was there. That might be somehow tied to the vortex (reported). The tree in the photo, we called ’em…. “Witchy Trees”. The name might have stuck because of the long odd shaped limbs that somewhat look like a Hollywood witches’ finger/hand. There are very similar trees on Monte Sano Mountain as well and they tend to be along the route of old roads (in this area at least). Not far from this tree is a spring that has a lot of iron content in it. The water smells of iron and the sand in the creek runoff looks rusty. Since iron is magnetic, it might explain part of the energy line / vortex theory. – Rusty

Note: There is currently no scientific method to prove that vortexes exist. Just because a location is on the vortex map, does not prove there is a vortex there. What it means, is that someone suggested the location and provided evidence or a personal account, and/or we found corroborating evidence from other sources. We do this so other visitors to the site can send us their opinion on the validity of the vortex claim, to build a consensus.

Have you visited this location? If so, let us know if you think this place is a vortex or not. We will post your comments here.
