Union Cemetery Vortex

Union Cemetery in Easton is frequently cited as one of the most haunted locations in Connecticut, largely due to its association with the famous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Established in the 1700s, the cemetery has been the subject of numerous books and documentaries, most notably the 1992 book Graveyard. While it remains an active burial ground, its reputation for supernatural activity attracts visitors from across the country, particularly those interested in New England folklore and the work of the Warrens.

The most enduring legend of the site is the White Lady, an apparition described as a woman with long dark hair wearing a white nightgown and bonnet. Sightings of this figure date back decades, with many witnesses claiming to see her floating among the headstones or standing in the middle of Route 59, which borders the cemetery. A common and chilling report involves drivers who believe they have struck a person in white, only to find their car dented and the road empty upon stopping. While various theories exist regarding her identity, ranging from a mother searching for a lost child to a murder victim from the 1940s, her true history remains a mystery.

Another well known phenomenon at Union Cemetery is an entity referred to as Red Eyes. This figure is typically described as a pair of glowing crimson eyes peering from the dense brush or the woods behind the graveyard. Some local legends link these sightings to the spirit of a man who met a tragic end in the vicinity during the early 20th century. However, skeptics and investigators have occasionally found that some of these sightings were actually caused by reflectors placed on wooden stakes, a common prank used to startle nighttime trespassers.

The Warrens claimed to have captured some of the most compelling evidence of the afterlife at this location, including a short video sequence filmed in 1990 that allegedly shows a misty form coalescing into a human shape. Despite the fame brought by such claims, the cemetery is strictly off limits after dark, and local authorities heavily patrol the area to prevent vandalism and trespassing.

Note: There is currently no scientific method to prove that vortexes exist. Just because a location is on the vortex map, does not prove there is a vortex there. What it means, is that someone suggested the location and provided evidence or a personal account, and/or we found corroborating evidence from other sources. We do this so other visitors to the site can send us their opinion on the validity of the vortex claim, to build a consensus.

Have you visited this location? If so, let us know if you think this place is a vortex or not. We will post your comments here.
