The Menger Hotel is a well-known haunted hotel in the American West. With at least 32 distinct spirits reported, the hotel functions as a high-frequency vortex where the veil is remarkably thin, allowing for a continuous, peaceful coexistence between the living and the past.
The most beloved and frequently encountered spirit is that of Sallie White, a dedicated chambermaid whose soul remains tied to the hotel by a contract of service and care. Often seen on the third floor of the original Victorian wing, Sallie is perceived by many sensitive guests as a benevolent “white light” presence, still smoothing bedsheets or carrying a stack of ethereal towels with a quiet, focused grace.
Spirit seekers often report the sudden scent of cigar smoke or the sound of phantom glass clinking. There is a “Lady in Blue” reported to be seen knitting and Captain Richard King—who can often be heard pacing the floor in heavy boots.

This is a beautiful hotel and very special to me. I love this hotel and every time I’m in downtown San Antonio I go and sit in their lobby. It’s one of the few places that calms me and is peaceful.
We had our wedding reception here and stayed the night. I did have the privilege of seeing one of the hotel’s long time residents.
Side Note:
I just realized that I’m attracted to all the vortexes in Texas. This is the first time hearing about Vortexes much less Texas vortexes.
Coincidence????
Enchanted Rock: Love going there.
Big Bend: Our favorite place to ring in the New Year.
Comal Springs: This is part of my family frequently swimming holes through out the Texas Hill Country .
Menger Hotel: Had my wedding there.
