Easter Island Vortex

Easter Island, known as Rapa Nui, is located in the remote southeastern Pacific Ocean. The physical presence of nearly 900 monumental statues, or moai, provides “Mana” or the spiritual power of the Polynesian ancestors.

The site is connected to the Birdman cult at Orongo and the dramatic crater of Rano Kau, which provide a soaring, airy counterpoint to the static intensity of the stone statues. This interaction between the high winds of the coastal cliffs and the deep, freshwater marshes of the craters creates a balanced circulatory field of intense elemental power.

Registered by Vortex Hunter #58 – 08.10.11Easter Island is one of the world’s most isolated inhabited islands. The name “Easter Island” was given by the island’s first recorded European visitor, the Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen, who encountered it on Easter Sunday 1722. Another name, Mata-ki-Te-rangi, means “Eyes looking to the sky”. The biggest mystery on Easter Island are the hundreds of giant statutes (Moai), which stand on Easter Island. Who built these statues and why? Some suggest extraterrestrials had a hand (or 3 fingered claw) in building it.
