Hi Vortex Hunters,
Having spent a considerable time out west, I was disappointed by how few vortices are documented in the Northeast, so I’m reaching out in case you’re still active, to submit a new location. I’m a geographer here in Massachusetts and an avid outdoors person. Northfield Mountain has stood out to me for years. Most notably because it’s a recreation area on a mountain with a hydroelectric plant inside the mountain. Atlas Obscura has a good article here:

So not only is the mountain New England’s Largest Battery but it’s location is interesting because the exposed gneiss bedrock on the south face makes for the best rock climbing in Massachusetts, Farley Ledges. However, the climbing area’s location is obscured intentionally by the local Climbing Coalition at the request of the neighbors. The New Trail Trail also passes by this area. I could go on. – Jake
Hi Jake, thank you for sending us this interesting location and the map image. With all that energy pumping underground, it would be fascinating to find out what effect it would have on the environment above. We will look into this location. Do you have a picture taken by you you can send?
